The Coonalpyn Show was started in the early 1940's by a group of enthusiastic locals after it was decided the area's soil and good rainfall were good enough to showcase the local produce and pastures. Now planning it's 79th show, the Coonalpyn show goes from strength to strength in providing a renowned event.

As the only show remaining in the Coorong District Council in the Upper South East region of South Australia, the show proudly opens its gate every year on on the 3rd Saturday of October.

With now almost 80 years of experience the Coonalpyn show still hosts the indoor pavilion with the classic sections including Cookery, Flowers, Eggs, Jams & Preserves, Art & Craft, Knitting & Sewing, there is a section for everyone to join in. But why stop there? The Coonalpyn show also have Wool, Grain & Fodder & Poultry sections so there really is no base not covered. The large showgrounds easily facilitate a large trade display area, food court & multiple indoor trade areas.

So come and spend the day relaxing, shopping, learning, eating, laughing & being entertained with friends & family all while surrounded by a warm country welcome.

 

ABOUT COONALPYN

Coonalpyn a small country town with a population of about 215, situated along what used to be known as the Ninety Mile Desert. Wheat, barley, canola, beans and peas are the main crops grown in the area, and also sheep and cattle. During the early 1950's, superphosphates and trace elements were introduced into the soil, creating the ability to use the land for cropping to its full potential.
